Stake your claim
To become the owner of your listing, navigate to the listing page and select "Claim", or go directly to /claim/<listing>. You'll then verify that you control your company's domain using one of four methods:
- Receive a secret link sent to an email address at your company's domain
- Add a DNS TXT record to your root domain
- Insert a meta tag on your homepage
- Upload a small verification file to your website
Your verification code expires after 14 days. If yours expires, simply start the process again.
What ownership unlocks
Once verified, you become the listing owner (assuming it was previously unclaimed) and gain the ability to edit your entry. You'll also receive the Verified badge—a mark that shows you control the domain. This badge is never for sale and exists entirely separately from paid placement and votes. Verification is about authenticity, not ranking position.
The Verified difference
The Verified badge tells visitors they're looking at a listing managed by someone with genuine authority over the company. It's a credential earned through domain control, not through performance in our rankings or leaderboards.
Questions people ask
- How do I prove I own the company?
- You prove domain control by completing one verification method: confirming an email at your domain, adding a DNS record, placing a meta tag, or uploading a file. We send you the details for whichever method you choose.
- What if my verification code expires?
- Verification codes last 14 days. If yours expires before you complete the process, go back to /claim/<listing> and start over.
- Is Verified status the same as winning an award?
- No. The Verified badge proves you control the domain and can edit the listing. Awards and leaderboard rankings are determined by votes, money, or data—never by verification status.
